study skills and tips
Cindy | Westchester, NY

Everyone is differnt,  find what method works best for you.

It is best to review material right after a class when it's still fresh in your mind

Don't try to do all your studying at night or the night before the test.  Review the material several times a week.

Use all your materials from the subject to help you study.  Notes, text book and class handout should be in front of you a well.

Find a comfortable and quiet place to study with good lighting and little distraction.  Avoid the bed because you can become sleepy and take a nap.

Study and master the most important information first.  Learn the main idea first and then focus on the details.

Space out your studying and study everyday.  if you study the night before you may have it and lose it.  If you space out your studying over time, it will stay in your long term memory.

Make sure you know the material well, if not ask for help.  You can't study correctly if you don't understand what you are studying.

Test yourself or have someone test you.  Mark the ones that you haven't mastered and study them mor

Listen to relaxing music or music that's low to take away the boredom of studying.

Most important, take breaks while studying.  I do best when I take several brakes to clear my head.  I become more refreshed and I'm able to study with a clear head.

GOOD LUCK!  :)
