Hello, my name is Lucy Weltner. I am a certified math teacher in MA with experience teaching 7th and 8th grade. I have also tutored most levels of math, from sixth grade math through calculus. I am looking for tutees who need any kind of math help, but I specialize in algebra, pre-algebra and SAT prep.
I am looking for tutees in the Boston area (Newton, Needham, Brookline, etc) and I am willing to meet students up to 1/2 hour away from Cambridge (driving distance).
I am a patient person, and I enjoy the challenge of teaching students with different strengths and learning styles. I believe in a discussion based, student centered approach, in which tutees explain and reason through problems while I ask guiding questions and draw attention to important details.
If you are interested, please include a little background information about the student's strengths, weaknesses, learning style etc, and let me know what math topics the student needs help with -- this information will give me a chance to prepare and personalize my instruction.
