I have my degree from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. I received a BBS in Forensic Science with a minor in Psychology. I was working on my Master's in Child and Adolescent Psychology with Southern New Hampshire University; however, I put that on hold so that I could travel and teach. I received my TEFL/TESOL certification from the International TEFL Academy & INTESOL Worldwide.
This year marks my fourth year teaching in the classroom. My current teaching position is at a private school in Austin, Texas teaching Pre-K. Before this I was teaching at the Sunny Canadian International School in Prague. Before arriving to teach in Prague, I was employed with a Foreign Language School in China where I taught for 14 months. Prior to that, I was employed with different school districts working as a teacher's assistant. As a teacher’s assistant I taught math, reading, and other subjects to students with handicaps and disabilities. Through my past and current employments, I have been able to work with a variety of children at different age levels and from different cultures. These experiences have shown me how much I love and enjoy teaching. As a teacher, I strive to constantly engage students and motivate them to use the English language in their everyday lives, to get creative with it and see it as a tool rather than a chore. I endeavor to create an open, communicative classroom where students are supported through positive reinforcement and social activities. People learn in different ways. It is important to recognize those different ways and apply them in your teaching. My goal is to help shape the minds of students, no matter what age or culture they come from. I believe that education is the key to success and it can lead us to a brighter future.
