I have been working in education for the past 16 years.  I am currently a high school math teacher.  I specialize in working with struggling students.  I am special education certified as well.  I always love to explain the "why" of what we do in math.  I find that understanding why we manipulate and change numbers helps with reasoning through the problem, rather than just finding a solution.  It is a more comprehensive way to learn and comprehend.  I also like to meet the student where they are.  If your child has any deficits, we will work on all of those to bring them up to steed and back on grade level.
