Althea has accomplished Highly Qualified Teaching status and hold a 5 Year Professional Intervention Specialist (K-12) Mild/Moderate License along with the Teacher as Leader Endorsement with the State of Ohio Department of Education.  More than 34 years of professional working experiences with 20 years in the field of education, Althea has acquired a diverse skill set that ranges from educating students within a wide age range from birth to adult with varying ability levels in diverse learning environments such as prisons, homeless shelters, court houses, etc. to coordinating services for families with children with multiple disabilities.  Althea has worked with various prestigious organizations some of which include, Action for Children, Child Development Council of Franklin County, Inc. Head Start, Ohio Industries for the Handicapped, Association for Developmental Disabled, Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities, and Millennium Community School.  Currently, Althea tutors students with specific learning disabilities at a local elementary school in Columbus, Ohio.  Althea's prior teaching experiences include, 5th grade Reading Teacher Assistant, Early Intervention Teacher (3 - 5 years old), Latchkey Teacher Assistant for grades k-5th, Parent Educator (birth - 3 years old) with the Parents as Teachers program, High Risk Parent Instructor for teens through adult, Intervention Specialist in a senior class with students age (14 yrs. - 22 yrs.) with multiple disabilities, and English Language Arts Resource Room Teacher for 6th - 8th grade students with exceptional needs.

Althea holds a 10-year certificate as a Professional Specialist 2 Service and Support Administrator with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.  Althea holds a provider certificate from the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services that enables her to accept students who participate in the Title 20 program.  Althea also holds a provider certificate from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities that enables her to accept students who participate in the Individual Options and Level One Waiver programs.  Althea has represented a former employer, Child Development Council of Franklin County, Inc. Head Start at a national conference and presented comprehensive Head Start provisions that included Best Practices procedures and application.  Attained over $500,000 in state/county funding that benefited the service needs of more than 300 families.
