Why I teach with Technology
July 10, 2015 by Kelly Flower  |

This Tip is Modified from an Edutopia Article (link below) and is my personal view on why Technology should be an INTEGRAL part of education in any grade level.

Most public schools lag behind when it comes to integrating technology into classroom learning. My belief is that using technology should be used routinely and be a transparent part of all subjects - supporting learning goals and taking away the separations of subject matter.

Today's students HAVE to acquire these skills to survive in a competitive, complex, highly technological knowledge-based economy. This should start in 1st grade.

Effective tech integration must happen across subjects in ways that deepen and enhance the learning process. I use it for the following reasons:

1. Encourage active engagement,

2. Be able to give my students frequent feedback, and

3. Build Relevancy for my students - providing opportunities for them to express their understanding through images, sound, and text. As well as connect them to real-world concepts and experts.

4. Allows for more integrated Project Based Learned (PBL).
